ABOUT THE DESIGN
Vegetate was originally one of four pieces in a mini-series I did called Middle Aged Spreads, which featured four jars of breakfast spreads with altered labels, being Procrastination (Promite), Botox (Bonox), Masturbation (Marmite) and Vegetate (Vegemite).
ABOUT THE MODEL
An unexpected perk of being an artist is occasionally befriending someone who likes your work. Suddenly they go from being an Instagram "like" to a fully-fledged human chum. That’s how I met Simon, at the Hollywood Hotel in Sydney, when he came to see my exhibition, Man Walks Into a Bar. The gallery was quiet that day, so we cracked a bottle of wine left over from the opening and sat there chattering away for hours.
