NOTE FROM DAVID
Guru Adrian is a memetic character I introduced to the world during the 80s before memes became a thing. He’s a secular deity known as the God of Fun, whose mantra “Having fun is half the fun” gets quoted back to me to this day. The Guru became for me what the Radiant Baby was for Keith Haring: a muse and calling card. Keith and I even collaborated on a Guru print called no Body, which you can see here.
Cross-pollinating with artist friends is one of my favourite things to do. This piece was sculpted and painted by Sydney artist Anne Kwasner, who I met after I was interviewed by her son.
