The word "dufus" apparently originated as a gentle insult in American colleges during the 1960s, plausibly influenced by the word "doof", which means "daft" or "goofy" in both Scottish and German.

MODEL
Dare Jennings isn’t just a mate of mine — he’s also been a quiet mentor, as he has for a lot of Aussie artists. He’s the mind behind Mambo, which managed to be both hugely successful and culturally sharp, and later Deus, now scattered across a dozen or so countries, selling everything from clothes to custom motorbikes. He’s also a bloody good sport, given that he agreed to model PoW’s Dufus hat, which is clearly a playful parody of Deus.
